This month we celebrate equality and colourful food.
From a rainbow fruit salad to rainbow bagels that Lydia has found and of course, we’ve drawn and eaten…

Lydia explains the link between Pride and the rainbow as well as telling us the most beautiful fact about rainbows – how we see them is a unique experience for every individual.
Of course we don’t skip on nerdery and we have a really interesting chat with Megan Caulkett-Ridd, co-founder for Food and Pride. All of it to end with our usual experiments.

But what did we learn about design?
- “Well, I found this all a lot more interesting when I got below the surface. Corporates sometimes jump on the rainbow – or not, depending on cultural shifts, but just as a logo is not much on its own, depth is important”
- “I was reminded that one thing can actually be about another, here, food being about community and places where people can be themselves”
- “And just as in food, in design there are people whose identity is at the heart of their work and people whose work and identity are separate”
- “Sometimes things are not what it looks like. A safe place for some might look a normal place for others.”
- “And just because you colour your logo doesn’t mean you are inclusive, you have to also show it in policies and everyday acts. Branding is actually activism too.”
Join us next month for another Studio Snack.
